Nuclear Blondes

I was sitting in class yesterday, and some of the girls was discussing the situation in Japan, and the nuclear plants blowing up and evacuation and stuff.
"Wasn't there something about #### on the news too?" says one. #### is a smaller city about an hour away from here. "Yeah, I heard too," says one of the other girls. Feeling like having some fun, I joined the conversation. "There was something about a guy building a nuclear reactor in his basement to cut the energy bill, but then he ran out of liquid nitrogen, so the whole thing's about to blow up." "OMG, seriously?! Is it going to hit #### (where we live) too??!" says the smartest girl in class. Rather flummoxed, and with my face in serious difficulties staying serious, I replied "Yeah, there is a certain chance, but it might just hit ####." That's about five minutes from here. Most of them was at this point becoming really alarmed, so it was time to stop before things went out of control, and reveal the joke.
